If you don't have T-Mobile, using Google Voice and Talkatone to make calls over Wi-Fi is a great bet.
Yes, you'll be using a different number, but you have unlimited minutes (only limited by any data cap imposed by your broadband ISP) and your phone won't be using cell service.
Use a wired hands-free headset
You could use a Bluetooth headset, but many people think Bluetooth causes cancer as well.
But some headphones with a built in mic, or hook up your phone to your car via Bluetooth and leave your phone on the seat next to you.
Keeping your phone in your pocket while you use a hands-free device isn't doing much for you, because it's still very close to your body while it's emitting radiation.
If you're extra-paranoid, try an Air Tube wired headset, which avoids radiation that may travel up the headphone cord to your ear using conventional wired headsets.
Use a land line whenever you can
Yes, you heard us right. If we start to see more research proving cell phones' link to cancer, land line phones could make a big comeback.
If you don't want to sign up for a land line, try finding a way to call using Wi-Fi in your home. If you're on T-Mobile and have a Wi-Fi Calling-enabled phone, you can sign up.
