Prepaid phone carrier U.S. Cellular is bring a 4G network to around a quarter of its customers later this year, with plans for further expansion in the pipeline.
The U.S. Cellular 4G roll-out will be launched in stages with the first of the new coverage areas being Iowa, Maine, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin. The carrier has confirmed that it plans to expand 4G coverage to a total of 24 markets by the end of of the year and to offer a number of new 4G phones.
The prepaid 4G phone market is heating up a little this year – MetroPCS has announced a number of new phones for launch this year, as well as an expansion to its 4G network and the Samsung Indulge Android device.
