Call for Speakers

Rapid technological developments, societal changes and radical new business models are enriching and enlarging the ICT ecosystem. Never before has connectivity offered so much potential for economic growth and social development.

And never before have the challenges of extending that connectivity to all been so pressing – raising issues such as universal access, meaningful local content, the implementation of the IoT, security, fair and open competition, fit-for-purpose regulation, joined-up policy, the new open source ecosystem, quality of service and scaling ICT startups and smaller businesses to maximum impact. The Forum at ITU Telecom World 2016 will explore these topics and more in a programme designed directly in cooperation with you, stakeholders in the global ICT community. This is your opportunity to get involved in this unique set of debates, with all the high level presence of a UN event within the informed and informal atmosphere of a major industry conference.

NOMINATING A SPEAKER

Speaking at ITU Telecom World 2016 enables you to share your views on the critical issues of the ICT industry, form essential connections, impact policy making, structure visions and business decisions, and help address critical societal challenges.

We are looking for nominations for the most respected, radical and insightful speakers with expertise in policy, business or technology to provide insights into the major issues shaping the ICT ecosystem today.

If you are interested in nominating a speaker, or in speaking yourself, please provide full contact details and a brief bio (~200 words) of the proposed speaker, outlining areas of expertise and potential topics for debate within the Forum Programme at ITU Telecom World 2016. Suggestion of topics that you would like to see addressed during the Forum are also welcome.

We will consider submitted Speaker Nominations until 29 February 2016 when the overall framework of the programme should be decided. After this date submissions may still be considered, but will only be accommodated if they add significant value to specific sessions in the designated programme. Please kindly note that the selection process will be based on information you provide and as a UN organization we pay attention to gender balance. Selected speakers are expected to pay their own travel and accommodation expenses.
