The Nokia N8 has impressed us again and again when it comes to still photography and HD video capture, but a new app from the Ovi Store lets you get the best of both worlds. Join us after the cut to find out more…
Time lapse photo capture may not be a new technology, but it’s been a while since we’ve seen it used to good effect on a smartphone. FastMotion Time Lapse looks like changing this, getting the best out of Symbian ^3 handsets such as the Nokia N8.
Nokia N8 high-definition video in action!
With FastMotion Time Lapse, you’ll be able to create films recorded over a set period of time. You can set the camera to take photographs every 5 or 10 seconds, for instance, also changing the framerate of the movie once it’s finished.
The result is artistic and impressive, and you can record things that would normally look dull on regular videos – slow moving objects, for instance, such as the burning candle in the video below.
We’re a bit disappointed with the quality of the demo video, but according to All About Symbian this can be improved by changing the resolution (right up to 720p is available), changing the settings to somewhere brighter, and also YouTube encoding.
We’ll be trying out FastMotion Time Lapse on our Nokia N8 in the next couple of days, so if you want to know what it’s capable of check back here before the end of the week.
In the meantime, check out All About Symbian’s FastMotion Time lapse video below:
